Sahanaya Lakeside Residencies is a community based service established in May 2008 at Gorakana, Panadura. It is located in a peaceful and tranquil environment, overlooking the Bolgoda Lake. This is a skills development arm of the Sahanaya Resource Centre. It comprises of residential facilities for long-term mentally ill and a day care centre

To create hopeful and brighter futures for people diagnosed with long-term mental illness by enabling them and their caregivers to achieve optimal quality of life
OUR MISSION
To assist individuals suffering from serious mental illness, achieve the earliest most successful community reintegration at the most independent level through comprehensive assessment, consultation, treatment and rehabilitation
Who can benefit from our Centre: -
- People affected with long term mental illness such as schizophrenia and bipolar illness who need opportunities to improve living skills
- People with chronic mental diseases needing rehabilitation facilities
- People with mental disabilities wanting to acquire special employment skills
- Families and caregivers of mentally ill in enhancing their competencies in caring
- Professionals who want to acquire competencies in caring for mentally ill
Our Services
- Currently there is an individually tailored residential life skills development programme in operation for the long-term mentally affected individuals especially for those who are suffering from schizophrenia to improve their daily living skills.
- Day care facilities for mentally affected individuals
- Respite care facilities for the individuals who are mentally affected and needs a short term stay for a period of 1-6 months.
